Independent Progressive Candidate for Governor of Hawaiʻi

A Hawaiʻi
for the People

One Job Should Be Enough

“I’m not asking you to believe in a political party. I’m asking you to believe that the people of Hawaiʻi deserve better.”

— Calvert A. Williamson

A Personal Welcome

Aloha. My name is Calvert A. Williamson.

I am running for Governor because I believe Hawaiʻi can do better.

For nearly twelve years, I have worked for the State of Hawaiʻi. Like thousands of families across our islands, I understand what it means to work hard while watching the cost of living continue to rise.

I am not speaking about these struggles as an outsider. I am living them.

I know why parents work multiple jobs and still struggle to get ahead. I know why young adults question whether they can build a future here. I know why kūpuna worry about whether they can remain in the islands they helped build.

I believe government should improve people’s lives, our economy should reward work, and public officials should earn the people’s trust.

Most of all, I believe one job should be enough.

WHY I AM RUNNING

I am them. I lived it.

My time is a lot shorter than it is long. I am running because Hawaiʻi’s young people must be involved in shaping their future.

The future cannot belong only to wealthy investors, outside corporations, political insiders, or political machines. It must belong to the next generation of the people of Hawaiʻi.

Why This Campaign Is Different

Hawaiʻi’s challenges are connected. Our solutions must be connected, too.

The cost of living cannot be solved by one isolated promise.

Housing cannot become attainable unless families earn enough to purchase a home. Wages cannot rise sustainably unless we strengthen local industries and keep more wealth in Hawaiʻi. Education cannot reach its potential while families struggle to survive. Healthcare, agriculture, transportation, infrastructure, public safety, government accountability, and opportunity all affect one another.

A Hawaiʻi for the People is not a list of disconnected campaign promises. It is a comprehensive governing plan designed to address root causes and make every major policy reinforce the others.

Higher wages support homeownership. Agriculture creates jobs and food security. Local ownership keeps profits here. Education builds the workforce. Healthcare eases pressure on families and employers. Accountable government protects every public investment.

None of these ideas stands alone. Together, they form a vision for a stronger Hawaiʻi.
